since today was my day off, my coworker (housemate) took me many place in Johor Bahru.
we went to have lunch in local Malaysian restaurant. if I recall correctly, I had something called like "laxisas". (picture above) The place is a legit local place and i could only see local people except us especially Chinese. This food is sort of like Ramen but it has different taste and ingredients. My problem in eating local stores is, so far, not being able to drink water because, first of all, they don't serve water, secondly, I was told not to drink water by friends since it's not safe. only choice I had are pepsi and coke. Although I can order tea, it comes with tons of sugar in. They never let me adjust how much sugar I want. They serve tea that already has tons of sugar in.
After getting food, we went to buy a phone. Since I am staying for only three months, I bought a pre-paid phone. I was surprised by how cheap the price was. Phone itself costs RM69 (around $20) and activation card RM10 ($3). This package should be enough for my whole stay. In going out to eat, I only spend around $4-$5 to have good meal.
I saw a lot of properties being build around the city. No matter where we went, I could see a huge condominium or shopping mall being constructed. On the other hand, I sometimes see empty offices in some areas. I could feel that this area is booming now.
I am thinking of going to Singapore this weekend but I am not quite sure at this point.
